Resumen : La presente investigación determina el uso tradicional de plantas medicinales en gestantes y puérperas de las comunidades nativas de las parroquias rurales de Saraguro-Loja, forma parte de la investigación del macro-proyecto enfocado en toda la zona 7. Respondiendo responsablemente como profesionales de la salud, es nuestro deber la vigilancia y el seguimiento de las mujeres gestantes y post parto independientemente de la cultura o raza, es por esto, que el estudio de las prácticas de medicina natural que aún se realizan en nuestra localidad es importante, para manejary aconsejar adecuadamente respetando su diversidad cultural. El tipo de estudio es descriptivo, conun enfoque mixto, de cohorte transversal retrospectivo. Obtuvimos un universo de 186 mujeres embarazadas y en puerperio, de las cuales 57 cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Los datos fueron tomados de acuerdo con los informes solicitados al distrito 11D08, centros y puestos de salud del Ministerio de Salud Pública de las diez parroquias rurales del cantón Saraguro, valiéndonos de informantes clave de la comunidad para la búsqueda y captación de embarazadas y en estado de puerperio. Se caracterizó el uso de plantas medicinales por gestantes y puérperas de las comunidades nativas de las parroquias rurales de Saraguro durante el periodo octubre 2021 yagosto2022, así como también la etapa en la que fueron utilizadas, se categorizó la manera de preparación, siendo la infusión la más frecuente, y los efectos adversos secundarios a su utilización
Descripción : This research determines the traditional use of medicinal plants in pregnant and postpartum women of the native communities of the rural parishes of Saraguro-Loja, it is part of the research of the macro project focused on the whole zone 7. Responding responsibly as health professionals, it is our duty to monitor and follow up on pregnant and postpartum women regardless of culture or race, which is why the study of natural medicine practices that are still performed in our town is important, to manage and advise properly respecting their cultural diversity. The type of study is descriptive, with a mixed approach, retrospective cross-sectional cohort. We obtained a sample of 186 pregnant and postpartum women, of whom 57 met the inclusion criteria. The sample was taken according to the reports requested from district 11D08, centers and health posts of the Ministerio de Salud Pública in the ten rural parishes of Saraguro canton, using key informants from the community to search for and capture pregnant and postpartum women.
