| Resumen : | La menopausia es un acontecimiento que marca el inicio de una nueva etapa evolutiva en la vida de la mujer, que se caracteriza por presentarse cambios fisiológicos, psíquicos, sociales y culturales; es un periodo de transición que pone término a la capacidad reproductiva de la mujer. La investigación denominada CONOCIMIENTOS Y MITOS SOBRE MENOPAUSIA EN MUJERES DEL BARRIO ESMERALDA NORTE, es un estudio de tipo descriptivo, persiguió como objetivos Identificar los conocimientos y mitos sobre menopausia en mujeres de edad fértil que habitan en este barrio, durante el periodo septiembre 2014 a julio del 2015, y las formas y medios de comunicación por los que han adquirido los conocimientos. El universo estuvo constituido por 169 mujeres en edad fértil; el instrumento utilizado fue la encuesta y la presentación de los datos se realizó en tablas de frecuencia simple y cruzadas, el análisis se basó en la bibliografía contemplada en el marco teórico y se obtuvieron los siguientes resultados; las mujeres que participaron en la investigación se encuentran entre 20 a 39 años. En cuanto al conocimiento sobre la menopausia, la población en estudio con grado de escolaridad secundaria y superior conoce sobre el tema. Referente a los mitos sobre menopausia las mujeres con grado de escolaridad primaria, secundaria y superior manifiestan que en este periodo los órganos reproductores se atrofian, se experimentan dolencias y mayor riesgo de desarrollar cáncer de mama. La fuente de información fue la familia, amigas y en mínimo porcentaje la consulta médica. Palabras Clave: Menopausia; conocimientos; mitos. |
| Descripción : | The Menopause is an event that indicates the beginning of a new evolutionary stage in the life of women, characterized by present physiological, psychological, social and cultural changes; it is a transition period that ends the reproductive capacity of women. The research called KNOWLEDGE AND MYTHS ABOUT THE MENOPAUSE OF WOMEN IN THE EMERALD North Neighborhood, is a descriptive study, that pursued objectives like the identification of the knowledge and myths about menopause in women of childbearing age who live in this neighborhood during the period of September 2014 to Julio 2015, and wich were the ways and means of communication that helped them to acquire these knowledges. The universe consisted of 169 women of childbearing age; The instrument used was the survey and presentation of the data was performed on simple frequency tables, the analysis was based on the literature referred to in the theoretical framework and the following results were obtained; Women who participated in the research are among 20-39 years. About the knowledge of menopause, the study population with grade secondary schooling and higher education knows about it. Regarding the myths about menopause, women with grade of primary, secondary and higher education, manifest that in this period the reproductive organs atrophy, experienced ailments and increased risk of developing breast cancer. The source of information were family, friends and medical consultation was a minimum percentage. Keywords: Menopause; knowledge; myths. |
