| dc.description | COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus that, in addition to its physical implications, has generated a significant impact on the mental health of adolescents, limiting their chances of leading a healthy life in the short and long term. The main objective of this research was to determine the impact of COVID-19 on the mental health of adolescents in the Belén neighborhood during the period September 2024 - February 2025. For this purpose, a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was designed aimed at 284 adolescents aged 15 to 19 years to whom the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21) was applied. Among the results it was identified that 30.46% of the participants reported severe levels of anxiety, 29.31% moderate levels of stress and 27.59% mild levels of depression, especially in the female sex, which is also the group in which the most infections were reported with 32.39%. In conclusion, COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the mental health of adolescents in the Belén neighborhood, with a notable presence of severe levels of anxiety, especially in women, along with moderate levels of stress and mild levels of depression. | dc.description.abstract | La COVID-19 es una enfermedad infecciosa producida por el virus del SARS-CoV-2 que, además de sus implicaciones físicas, ha generado un impacto importante en la salud mental de los adolescentes, limitando sus probabilidades de llevar una vida sana a corto y largo plazo. Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo principal determinar el impacto de la COVID-19 en la salud mental de los adolescentes del barrio Belén durante el periodo septiembre 2024 - febrero 2025, para ello se diseñó un estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, de corte transversal dirigido a 284 adolescentes de 15 a 19 años a quienes se aplicó la Escala de Depresión, Ansiedad y Estrés (DASS-21), entre los resultados se identificó que el 30,46% de los participantes manifestó niveles severos de ansiedad, el 29,31% niveles moderados de estrés y el 27,59% niveles leves de depresión sobre todo en el sexo femenino que además es el grupo en donde más contagios se reportaron con el 32,39%. En conclusión, la COVID-19 ha denotado un impacto importante en la salud mental de los adolescentes del barrio Belén con una notable presencia de niveles severos de ansiedad especialmente en las mujeres conjuntamente con niveles moderados de estrés y leves de depresión, ante esta situación resulta importante implementar estrategias de identificación temprana y un apoyo psicológico adecuado a fin de fortalecer el bienestar mental del adolescente y mejorar su capacidad de afrontamiento ante futuras adversidades | es_ES |
