| Resumen : | La seguridad alimentaria implica poseer disponibilidad, acceso físico, económico y aprovechamiento biológico de alimentos inocuos, que cubran las necesidades nutricionales para ejercer una vida activa y saludable. La provisión insuficiente de alimentos ha impactado negativamente la seguridad alimentaria y el estado nutricional de los niños, a pesar de ser un derecho estar protegido del hambre y la malnutrición. Por esta razón, se planteó la presente investigación con el objetivo de determinar la seguridad alimentaria y el estado nutricional en niños de los Centros de Desarrollo Infantil del MIES de la ciudad de Loja, periodo octubre 2022 – marzo 2023, de enfoque cuantitativo, descriptivo y transversal. La investigación se realizó en 367 participantes, se aplicó la escala de seguridad alimentaria y el test de calidad de alimentación a los padres de familia, la toma de peso y longitud /talla de los niños. Los resultados obtenidos fueron los siguientes: el 13,08% de los hogares poseen seguridad alimentaria, y el resto inseguridad alimentaria siendo más evidente la leve con 50,68%, la calidad de alimentación más representativa es la óptima con 50,95%; el estado nutricional según el indicador peso para la longitud/talla el 91,01% presentan adecuado estado nutricional, el 7,08% riesgo de sobrepeso, el 1,36% sobrepeso y el 0,54% desnutrición aguda moderada, según la longitud/talla para la edad el 83,92% posee talla normal, el 14,44% baja talla y el 1,63% baja talla severa; se determinó que existe relación estadísticamente significativa entre seguridad alimentaria y estado nutricional mediante el chi cuadrado, el valor p fue 0,037. En conclusión, este estudio corroboró que la mayoría de los niños viven en hogares con inseguridad alimentaria, aunque la mayoría posee un estado nutricional adecuado; a pesar de la relación significativa entre estas variables, la malnutrición por inseguridad alimentaria ha sido evidente solo en algunos casos |
| Descripción : | Food security implies the availability, physical and economic access and biological utilization of safe food that meets the nutritional needs for an active and healthy life. The insufficient supply of food has negatively impacted food security and the nutritional status of children, despite the fact that it is a right to be protected from hunger and malnutrition. For this reason, the present research was proposed with the objective of determining food security and nutritional status in children of the Centros de Desarrollo Infantil of MIES of the city of Loja, period October 2022 - March 2023, with a quantitative, descriptive and crosssectional approach. The research was conducted in 367 participants, the food security scale and the food quality test were applied to parents, the taking of weight and length / height of children. The results obtained were as follows: 13.08% of the households have food security, and the rest have food insecurity, the most evident being mild with 50.68%, the most representative food quality is optimal with 50.95%; the nutritional status according to the indicator weight for length/height 91.01% present adequate nutritional status, 7.08% risk of overweight, 1.36% overweight and 0.54% moderate acute malnutrition, according to length/height for age 83.92% have normal height, 14.44% low height and 1.63% severe low height; it was determined that there is a statistically significant relationship between food security and nutritional status using the chi square, the p-value was 0.037. In conclusion, this study corroborated that most of the children live in food insecure households, although most of them have an adequate nutritional status; despite the significant relationship between these variables, malnutrition due to food insecurity has been evident only in some cases. |
