| dc.description | Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is considered one of the four chronic diseases of higher priority. To achieve the glycemic control, oral hypoglycemic agents are prescribed to the patients and insulin therapy is added as the disease progresses. The polytherapy and the adherence to pharmacological treatment influence directly in the glycemic control. The lack of adherence is one of the factors that determines the presence of alterations in the patients quality of life and represents a major cost for the Health System of the country. A descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional, and observational study was developed to determine the knowledge of the disease through the Batalla Test and the adherence to pharmacologic treatment per the Morisky Green and Levine Tests in patients who belong to the Diabetes Club “Mi enfermedad a la raya”, of Loja city. 62 patients participated of which 75.81% (n=47) are female with the average age being 52.6 years old. 64.52% (n=40) are married and 14.52% (n=19) are widowed. 62.90 % (n=39) have primary education. 67.74 % (n=42) suffer diseases from 1 to 10 years old. 82.26 % (n= 51) use oral hypoglycemic drugs, 14.52 % (n=9) use insulin, 79.03% (n=49) are aware of the disease, and 75.81 % (n=47) are adequately adhered to the treatment, establishing the relationship between knowledge of the disease and adherence to treatment was obtained a value of p= 0.005, demonstrating a statistically significant relationship | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | La Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 es considerada una de las cuatro enfermedades crónicas de mayor prioridad en la actualidad. Para lograr el control glucémico, a los pacientes se les prescriben hipoglucemiantes orales y añadiendo terapia con insulina conforme avanza la enfermedad. La politerapia y la adherencia al tratamiento farmacológico influyen en el control glucémico. La falta de adherencia es uno de los factores que determina la aparición de complicaciones, afectando la calidad de vida de los pacientes y representando un mayor costo para el sistema de salud del país. Se desarrolló un estudio descriptivo, prospectivo, transversal, observacional, para determinar el conocimiento de la enfermedad mediante el Test de Batalla y la adherencia al tratamiento farmacológico a través del Test de Morisky Green y Levine, en pacientes pertenecientes al club de diabéticos Mi enfermedad a la raya de la ciudad de Loja. Participaron 62 pacientes, en donde el 75,81% (n=47) pertenecen al sexo femenino, con una edad media de 52,6 años. Un 64,52 % (n=40) son casados y el 14,52 % (n=9) son viudos. Un 62,90 % (n=39) tienen educación primaria. El 67,74 % (n=42) padecen la enfermedad desde 1 a 10 años. Un 82,26 % (n= 51) utilizan hipoglucemiantes orales y el 14,52 % (n=9) utilizan insulina, el 79,03 % (n=49) tienen conocimiento sobre la enfermedad, el 75,81 % (n=47) se adhieren al tratamiento, al establecer la relación entre el conocimiento de la enfermedad y adherencia al tratamiento se obtuvo un valor de p = 0,005, demostrando relación estadísticamente significativa | es_ES |
