| Resumen : | La investigación se realizó con el objetivo de analizar la incidencia de los hábitos de la lectura en el desarrollo de las funciones cognitivas, de los estudiantes de bachillerato de la Unidad Educativa Bernardo Valdivieso, periodo 2015-2016, respondiendo a un estudio científico social de carácter transversal con enfoque cuanti-cualitativo, en el que participaron 482 estudiantes a los que se les aplicó la encuesta que permitió identificar con qué frecuencia se dedicaban a leer. Evidenciando que solo el 17% de estudiantes dedicaba su tiempo libre para esta actividad, aplicándoles la Escala Abreviada de Inteligencia de Wechsler-WAIS (David Wechsler, 1999), para determinar que habilidades cognitivas han potenciado. Entre los resultados obtenidos se destaca que aquellos estudiantes que tenían una inclinación a la lectura el 2.47% de estudiantes presentaron un nivel superior, lo cual indica que estos estudiantes tienen un hábito de lectura bien estructurado alcanzando un desarrollo y un nivel superior en sus funciones cognitivas; el 24.69% estudiantes presentaron un nivel arriba de lo normal, determinando que también tienen un hábito de lectura muy bien definido, logrando alcanzar un adecuado desarrollo de sus funciones cognitivas; finalmente el 72.84% estudiantes se mantuvieron en un nivel normal por lo tanto sus hábitos de lectura no están bien estructurados y no son continuos. Además se demostró que de los estudiantes que tienen una inclinación a la lectura ninguno reflejó puntuaciones debajo de lo normal, evidenciándose que está actividad permite potenciar adecuadamente el desarrollo de las funciones cognitivas o mantenerlas lucidas. Finalmente, se planteó la propuesta psicoeducativa, denominada: “Fomento de los hábitos de lectura en los estudiantes de Bachillerato de la Unidad Educativa Bernardo Valdivieso, para potenciar sus funciones cognitivas”. | Descripción : | The research was carried out with the purpose of analyzing the incidence of reading habits in the development of the cognitive functions with Baccalaureate students from Unidad Educativa Bernardo Valdivieso, academic period 2015-2016, in response to a social scientific research of transverse character with a quantitative-qualitative approach, in which 482 students participated in the survey, it also allowed the researcher to identify how often students read. It showed that only 17% of students spent their free time in this activity, applying the Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence-WAIS (David Wechsler, 1999), to determine what cognitive abilities have maximized. Among the results obtained it is important to highlight that those students who had an inclination to read; 2,47% of students showed a higher level, which indicates that these students have a well-structured reading habit which allow them to reach a higher level and development of their cognitive functions; 24.69% of students evidenced a higher than normal level, determining that they also have very well defined reading habits, managing to reach an appropriate development of their cognitive functions; finally 72.84 of students kept a normal level therefore their reading habits are not well structured and continuous. Moreover it was demonstrated that students who are interested in reading, none of them presented less than normal levels, evidencing that reading activities allow students to intensify a suitable development of their cognitive functions or keep them lucid. Finally, a psychoeducational proposal was set out, with the following title: "Promotion of reading habits with the Baccalaureate students from Unidad Educativa Bernardo Valdivieso, in order to enhance their cognitive functions".
