Resumen : La presente investigación sobre “OBSERVACIONES PARA DISMINUIR LA MORBIMORTALIDAD DEL ACTUAL MANEJO DE LA PANCREATITIS AGUDA DIANOSTICADA EN LOS PACIENTES QUE ACUDIERON A LOS HOSPITALES “MANUEL YGNACIO MONTERO” IESS LOJA Y HOSPITAL DOCENTE “ISIDRO AYORA” DE LOJA EN EL PERIODO JULIO 2010 A JULIO 2012”, se realizó obteniendo información de las historias clínicas de pacientes ya diagnosticados de Pancreatitis Aguda, cuyo universo fue de 86 pacientes. Se verifico la utilización de los índices de Score, que permiten determinar el grado de morbimortalidad de los pacientes con pancreatitis y ver qué tipo de conducta terapéutica se utilizó, obteniéndose los siguientes resultados: De 86 pacientes, 52 fueron mujeres que equivale al 60.5% y 34 hombres que son el 39.5%, la edad más frecuente fue < 55 años con 66.3%, de 55 a 70ª con el 19.8% y > de 70 años un 13.9%. Las causas más frecuentes fueron: litiasis biliar en un 54.7%, alcoholismo 15.1%, Idiopática 11.6%, metabólica 12.8%, agresión mecánica 3.5% y lesiones anatómicas un 2.3%. En cuanto a la mortalidad fue del 4.7% y la morbilidad del 22.1%. La escala de Balthazar fue utilizada en un 68.7 al 100%, APACHE II en un 71.7%, RANSON al ingreso con 10.4% y a las 48h en el 1.5%, GLASGOW no se utilizó. El NPO se utilizó en el 100%, con Hidratación entre 60 a 70cc/kg/h en un 84.9%, corrección de electrolitos se dio en un 22.1%. La NPT se utilizó en un 16.3%, analgesia en un 50% se utilizó metamizol y el otro 50% se utilizaron otros analgésicos; omeprazol se usó en un 77.9% y ranitidina en 22.1%. Los antibióticos de forma profiláctica se utilizaron en un 55.2% al 63.2% y en cuanto a CPRE mas papilotomia se pidió en un 23.3% y Colecistectomia se realizó en 1.2%.
