| dc.description | The unintended pregnancies in young people have become a critical health issue in our city, which is set to increase day by day. Some of its consequences are physical, physiological and social, that is why it is necessary to take into account the university community and the lookout of ways of preventing pregnancies, especially during the academic training period. Based upon the aforementioned problem the following research topic was established: “Knowledge, attitudes and practices for pregnancy prevention with medicine students of Universidad Nacional de Loja.” The purpose of this study was to determine the appropriate knowledge and attitude that students often have to face this problem. In addition, the study is intended to know the practices regarding pregnancy prevention. In order to carry out this research the descriptive method was used through surveys applied to 234 medicine students who met the inclusion criteria. The conclusion determined that students lack proper information on how to prevent pregnancies. The attitude of young people toward pregnancy prevention was suitable represented in 85%. Regarding practices, it was found out that half of the students (49,57%) are sexually active, their ages range from 18 to 22 years old. Furthermore, two thirds of students (65,51%) have a sexual stable partner. By the same token, it was determined that almost half of the students (37,93%) do not talk to their sexual partners about pregnancy prevention. Finally, the method that students used the most is the condom (33, 62%). Interestingly enough, 13.79% do not use any contraceptive method. . | dc.description.abstract | Los embarazos no deseados en jóvenes se perfila como un problema de salud pública de primer orden que va en incremento, con importantes repercusiones tanto físicas, psicológicas y sociales; siendo importante tomar en cuenta el colectivo universitario y la búsqueda de prevenir un embarazo, durante el periodo de formación profesional; siendo conveniente plantear el tema de investigación, “CONOCIMIENTOS, ACTITUDES Y PRÁCTICAS SOBRE PREVENCIÓN DE EMBARAZO EN LAS ESTUDIANTES DE LA CARRERA DE MEDICINA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL DE LOJA”, con el propósito de ayudar a determinar el adecuado conocimiento y actitud que tienen las universitarias ante la prevención del embarazo; y además se plantea conocer que prácticas realizan, como medida preventiva de embarazo. Para el cumplimiento de esta investigación, se utilizó un tipo de estudio descriptivo; aplicando una encuesta, en una muestra conformada por 234 estudiantes de la carrera de Medicina que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Concluyendo lo siguiente: se determinó que las estudiantes tienen un inadecuado conocimiento de cómo prevenir embarazos en (34,2%). La actitud de las jóvenes frente a la prevención de embarazo fue adecuada, con un (85%). Como prácticas se identificó que la mitad de las estudiantes (49,57%) tienen vida sexual activa; en una edad comprendida entre los 18 a 22 años. Además que alrededor de las dos terceras partes de las estudiantes (65,51%) mantienen una pareja sexual estable. Así mismo se determinó, que casi la mitad de las estudiantes (37,93%), no dialogan en pareja sobre la prevención de embarazo y la responsabilidad que acarrea. Y por último que el método de preferencia a usar las estudiantes como prevención de embarazo es el preservativo (33,62%). Sin embargo es llamativo que (13,79%) no usen ningún tipo de anticonceptivo.
