| Resumen : | El presente trabajo investigativo se realizó con el propósito de analizar los conocimientos sobre alcoholismo, tabaquismo y los efectos secundarios del consumo de alcohol y tabaco que tienen los adolescentes del colegio Nocturno Presidente Isidro Ayora. Se aplicó un cuestionario a una muestra de 61 estudiantes, a partir de lo cual resulta que los jóvenes tienen conocimientos acerca del concepto del alcoholismo, sus causas y consecuencias sociales y familiares, en relación a los efectos secundarios tienen conocimientos acerca de los efectos físicos que produce el consumo del alcohol solo en sistema respiratorio, digestivo y hepático. Mientras que del tabaquismo solo conocen acerca de la definición y conocen que su consumo ocasiona efectos en el sistema digestivo y respiratorio; se concluye que los estudiantes tienen conocimientos generales sobre el alcoholismo y tabaquismo pero desconocen otros aspectos importantes acerca de este tema. Se recomienda a las instituciones dar más orientación en estos temas y poner énfasis en elaborar programas de educación y prevención frente al consumo de alcohol y tabaco para la promoción de la salud mental a través de acciones preventivas que apoyan a las personas a adoptar y mantener estilos de vida saludables. | Descripción : | The following research work was realized with the purpose of analyzing the knowledge about Alcoholism, smoking and seek for the side effects of alcohol and smoking with night school teenagers from “Isidro Ayora Nigh School”. A questionnaire was applied to a sample of 61 students, from which it showed that teenagers are aware of what alcoholism is, it causes and social consequences, and family, in relation to the side effects that are produced only in the liver, respiratory and digestive and hepatic system. Meanwhile they only know the definition of smoking and also know that the consumption can cause effects on the digestive and respiratory system; it is concluded that students have general knowledge about smoking and alcoholism but they are unaware about another important aspects about this topic. It is recommended to institutions to give more orientation about these important topics and place even more emphasis on creating educational programs on education and prevention of consuming alcohol and cigarettes for the promotion of mental health through preventive actions that support people to adopt and keep a better health.
