| Resumen : | La quimioterapia es uno de los tratamientos más utilizados en pacientes oncológicos que tiene como finalidad eliminar o disminuir las células cancerosas; sin embargo, da lugar a ciertas manifestaciones orales secundarias, tales como el desarrollo de gingivitis, por lo cual el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la prevalencia de gingivitis en pacientes oncológicos adultos sometidos a quimioterapia; así como también conocer la influencia del ciclo, dosis y fármacos antineoplásicos para la aparición de esta patología. A través de un estudio de tipo analítico, transversal de casos y controles, en 15 pacientes sometidos a quimioterapia con un seguimiento de tres meses, se empleó el periodontograma como instrumento diagnóstico y se observó el progreso del estado de salud gingival durante los periodos de administración de fármacos quimioterapéuticos, que se basó en la recopilación de información en el campo clínico durante el periodo de Septiembre a Diciembre del 2022 en el consultorio odontológico de Solca Loja. Los resultados de este estudio mostraron que el 60% (9) de pacientes presentaron gingivitis, además se determinó que uno de los indicadores de riesgo es el número de ciclos siendo el quinto (33,3%) y sexto (33,3%) ciclo de mayor incidencia para la patología, el fármaco antineoplásico que da lugar o agrava la gingivitis es el carboplatino, con referencia a la dosis del fármaco no hay influencia para la aparición de la patología. | Descripción : | Chemotherapy is one of the most used treatments in oncological patients to eliminate or reduce cancerous cells; however, it gives rise to the development of several secondary oral manifestations, such as the development of gingivitis, for which the present study aimed to determine the prevalence of gingivitis in adult oncological patients submitted to chemotherapy; as well as to know the influence of the cycle, dosage and antineoplastic drugs for the appearance of this pathology. Through an analytical, cross-sectional study of cases and controls in 15 patients undergoing chemotherapy with a follow-up of three months, we used the peri-odontogram as a diagnostic tool, and we observed the progress of the state of gingival health during the periods of administration of chemotherapeutic drugs, which we based on the collection of information in the clinical field during the period from September to December 2022 in the dental office of SOLCA Loja. The results of this study showed that 60% (9) of patients presented gingivitis; we also determined that one of the risk indicators is the number of cycles being the fifth (33.3%) and sixth (33.3%) cycle of higher incidence for the pathology, the antineoplastic drug that causes or aggravates gingivitis is carboplatin, regarding the dosage of the drug there is no influence for the appearance of the pathology.
