| Resumen : | El cáncer en niños sigue siendo la tercera causa de muerte a nivel mundial, este es un grupo heterogéneo de enfermedades oncológicas, su etiología, diagnóstico y pronóstico varían mucho. Los pacientes pediátricos que reciben tratamiento oncológico frecuentemente presentan manifestaciones bucales, por lo cual en el presente estudio se determinó cuáles son las manifestaciones bucales que se presentan con mayor frecuencia posterior a un tratamiento de radioterapia y quimioterapia; así como también conocer sobre las medidas preventivas y de control de las manifestaciones bucales. Para la presente investigación se realizó un estudio de carácter descriptivo, analítico y retrospectivo, en el cual se incluyó 29 artículos científicos en inglés y español y 5 trabajos de titulación, los cuales fueron obtenidos de la base de datos PubMed, SCIELO, Google académico, MedLine, Cochrane Librery Plus. Del análisis realizado, el 85,29% de los artículos revisados mencionan que las manifestaciones más frecuentes encontradas en este estudio producto de la quimio y radioterapia son: mucositis, xerostomía e infecciones orales; las hemorragias, neuropatías y alteraciones a nivel dental son manifestaciones frecuentes en estos pacientes pediátricos y como manifestaciones poca frecuencia se presentan la gingivitis, petequias y enfermedad periodontal. Por otra parte, el 41,17% de los artículos revisados concuerdan en que, aunque no existe una valoración definitiva de los protocolos de tratamiento y prevención bucodentales, el protocolo de atención de estos pacientes debe incluir acciones antes, durante y después del tratamiento de cáncer |
| Descripción : | Cancer in children is the third cause of death worlwide; it is a heterogeneous group of oncological diseases, and; its etiology, diagnosis, and prognosis vary greatly; pediatric patients receiving oncological treatment frequently present oral manifestations, so in the present study we determined which oral manifestations occur most frequently after radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment and, in addition, to know about the preventive and control measures of these oral manifestations. Fort he present research, we performed a descriptive, analytical, and transversal study where 29 scientific articles in English and Spanish and five theses; obtained from the databases: PubMed, SCIELO, Google Scholar, MedLine, Cochrane Library Plus were comprised. From the analysis carried out, 85.29% of the articles reviewed mention that the most frequent manifestations resulting from chemotherapy and radiotherapy are: mucositis, xerostomia, and oral infections; hemorrhages, neuropathies, and dental alterations are frequent manifestations in these pediatric patients, and gingivitis, petechiae, and periodontal disease are infrequently manifestations. On the other hand, 41,17% of the articles reviewed agree that, although there is no definitive evaluation of the protocols for oral and dental treatment and prevention, the protocol for the care of these patients should include actions before, during, and after cancer treatment |
