Descripción : The tourist phenomenon is an economic and social activity that over time has been diversifying its offer in different scenarios for the best enjoyment of tourists, including among them the built heritage as a revalued resource for consumption, having the vernacular architecture of the heritage houses as one of the most striking attractions of a site, because it transmits the cultural expression and identity of its inhabitants over time. The present research work called "Tourist strengthening of the vernacular architecture of the heritage houses of the area of influence of the Binational Center for Technical Training Zapotepamba (CBFTZ)" was designed from the general objective: To strengthen the vernacular architecture of the heritage houses of the area of influence of the Binational Center for Technical Training Zapotepamba; which in turn led to the following specific objectives: To carry out the diagnosis of the current situation of the heritage houses with vernacular architecture of the parishes Catacocha, Casanga and Yamana; Develop proposals to promote tourist heritage houses with vernacular architectural characteristics of the parishes catacocha, Casanga and Yamana; and finally Determine the effective demand for the proposals proposed for the development of cultural tourism in the area of influence of the CBFTZ. For the development of the objectives it was essential to use methodologies such as those proposed by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage (INPC) and the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR), through a field file for the collection of information on heritage houses, scientific methods such as analytical, synthetic, inductive and deductive, as well as techniques such as direct observation, surveys and interviews that contributed significantly to the development of each of the objectives and to the obtaining of the expected results. Therefore, among the results, updated information was obtained about the current situation of the heritage houses such as state of conservation, construction materials and tangible and intangible characteristics of the same, it was also possible to keep a record of some houses with vernacular architecture not yet inventoried by the INPC, as is the case of the Casanga parish. Proposals were continuously made for a tourist use of heritage houses such as accommodation, catering, craft shops and photo galleries. In addition to this, it is proposed to develop trainings under the direct participation of the owners of the houses, in order to raise awareness about the importance of the conservation of their heritage assets. Then through the surveys segments of tourists were determined and in turn a tourist profile, and with this the possible effective tourist demand made the proposals raised. In addition, through the results of the surveys it was possible to verify that photo galleries are not of great preference for visitors, since they have less reception unlike the other tourist services. Likewise, it is concluded that the proposals are focused on achieving sustainable development in the areas corresponding to Catacocha, Casanga and Yamana through tourism as a new source of economic income. And, therefore, to the awareness about the preservation of the cultural identity reflected in the houses with vernacular architecture and its importance in the culture and the development of tourism in these localities. Finally, the recommendations are mainly addressed to the Decentralized Autonomous Government of the Paltas Canton and the Casanga and Yamana Parish Councils, on the importance of supporting tourism projects focused on the use of their cultural resources such as the cultural heritage reflected in the heritage houses involving tourism as a new source of economic income, considering also the conservation and preservation of heritage houses, emphasizing that tourism plays a very important role to continue keeping alive the cultural identity, history and essence of these heritage assets.
