| Resumen : | La presente investigación tiene como finalidad realizar un estudio para dar a conocer la prevalencia de pacientes con VIH/SIDA y determinar las infecciones oportunistas que estos presentan, así como la relación de la presencia de dicha infección con la fecha de diagnóstico de la enfermedad de base. El estudio fue realizado en el Hospital Isidro Ayora con 197 pacientes en el periodo 2007-2015. Se procedió a la aplicación del formulario, el cual fue llenado con los datos obtenido de las historias clínicas que reposan en estadística de la Unidad de Atención a pacientes que viven con VIH/SIDA del Hospital. La investigación fue de tipo descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo estudiando un periodo específico de tiempo, se tomó el 100% de personas que padecen infecciones oportunistas para la realización de este trabajo, de los cuales el 72% son de género masculino y el 28% femenino, se puede evidenciar por otra parte que un 36% del grupo de estudio tienen edades de 31 a 40 años. Las infecciones oportunistas con mayor porcentaje en este grupo de pacientes son tuberculosis pulmonar y neumonía por Pneumocystis jiroveci con 9% cada una, y toxoplasmosis cerebral con 6%. Es importante dar a conocer que dentro de los dos primeros años de padecer la enfermedad del VIH/SIDA los pacientes adquirieron infecciones oportunistas, lo que aumenta el deterioro inmunológico, disminuyendo la esperanza de vida y consecuentemente la muerte del paciente. | Descripción : | This research aims to conduct a study to raise awareness of the prevalence of patients with HIV / AIDS and determine the opportunistic infections that they present, as well as the ratio of the presence of the infection with the date of diagnosis of the underlying disease. The study was conducted at the Isidro Ayora Hospital with 197 patients in the period 2007-2015. We proceeded to the application form, which was filled with the data obtained from medical records that rest in statistics Care Unit patients living with HIV / AIDS Hospital. The research was descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study a specific period of time, 100% of people suffering from opportunistic infections for carrying out this work, of which 72% are male and 28% female took, it can show otherwise that 36% of the study group are aged from 31 to 40 years. Opportunistic infections with the highest percentage in this group of patients are pulmonary tuberculosis, cerebral toxoplasmosis and Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia with 9%, 6% and 9% respectively. It is important to show that within the first two years of developing the disease of HIV / AIDS patients acquired opportunistic infections, which boosts the immune deterioration, declining life expectancy and consequently death.
