Descripción : This research develops a methodology for the development, optimization and implementation of a quasi-Yagi structure in microstrip technology with the integration of metamaterial structures; seeking to improve the fundamental characteristics of radiation. These changes provide a number of features that the original design can not achieve. The prototype is superior to implement both gain and directivity compared with the starting structure; the cells SRR metamaterials provide resonance at a particular frequency band independently of the original band antenna, which offers the possibility of a multiband antenna. The project has been divided into several parts, which are listed below: In the first literal is an introduction to the project, in the same reference to the context in which this research is done is done, current trends engineering and motivation to pursue development of increasingly efficient prototypes. The objectives sought in this research are raised in the second literal. The problems and justification, which give importance to this work, are specified within the next two literals. literature review in the fifth literal is done, it specifies the fundamental concepts of antennas and microstrip technology needed to understand how working prototype to implement. the design equations for the quasi-Yagi original structure are described. In the sixth literal stable materials and methods it followed to the fulfillment of the objectives of this research. Within this literal the original prototype and its simulation, optimization and subsequent integration metamaterial structures, each with their respective simulations develops. the method to be followed for the implementation of the prototypes, both the original and the proposed is also established. In the seventh literal it is arranged on the results achieved with the implemented prototypes and a comparison between the original and the optimized model. the conclusions and recommendations in the eighth literal defined. Finally they attached annexes in the ninth literal, including the Matlab code used to define the dimensions of the SRR rings. Keywords: quasi-Yagi, microstrip, metamaterials, SRR ring.
